The girl behind the blog

Let me introduce myself....

Hi there. That's me on the right. I figured if we are going to be friends, then I should tell you a little something about me. I'm Arge. I grew up in Queens, NY, married the man of my dreams, had a baby (my IVF miracle) and started a blog. Not this one...the one before this...my first ever blog.

Growing up, we were pretty traditional - my mom cooked dinner pretty much every night...nothing fancy, just home-cooked meals. But for holidays and parties, my dad was the star and he would go all out. Seeing my dad and his passion and love for cooking made me want to learn. The problem was that he never used recipes so I started recording him on my cellphone as he cooked. I watched them over and over and taught myself his techniques. Now, what to do with all of these recipes that I had come to adore? Start a blog...and I did. Now I had a spot to save and share the food that I loved. It wasn't anything spectacular either....but it caught the attention of one of the editors of Taste of Home magazine who saw my mom's recipe for Roasted Potatoes in the Oven and wanted to know if I had any other recipes that would work well with it for an article they were doing about family cooking in their June/July 2015 issue called Close to Home. I was pretty much in shock when I read the email. I never thought in a million years that I would be published. It was crazy. So I started the task of looking through every recipe I had. I started sending them recipe after recipe and finally they chose 2 - My dad's Greek salad and grilled ribeye steaks with garlic browned butter. I was interviewed over the phone and in May, there we were on pages 71 and 72...and entire article about my dad and I and our love for cooking along with our 3 recipes. I can't even put into words how I felt. It was amazing and of course my dad was just bursting at the seams with pride.

After that, life kind of got in the way and I stopped blogging. I loved my little blog but I wanted something of my own. So I started peace, love & iced lattes as a group on facebook....but it wasn't enough. One night, I was sitting in my dining room finishing up some work I took home and I literally said to myself - I am going to go for it. And "peaceloveandiced lattes(dot)com" was born! Why peace, love & iced lattes? Well, happiness starts with inner peace, love makes it all worth it and iced lattes make the world go round.....not quite but in my world iced lattes are life so it just seemed fitting.

I truly hope the recipes on my blog bring as much joy to your family as they do to mine. Behind every recipe is love and love feeds the heart and soul. Happy cooking everyone!

xoxo - Arge

What's in a name

I am a recovering pasta addict who would eat dessert first if given the chance. I am a wife and a mommy. I love anything that sparkles and I definitely own way too many shoes and handbags.
